OTR Truck Driver

Plaisted Transportation Inc. is looking for qualified, experienced, and reliable Class A CDL over the road drivers. Plaisted Transportation Inc. Leadership Team genuinely cares about its employees and has a family like atmosphere. You would become part of this family.

All routes are expected to be completed safely in accordance with all Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Driver is responsible for driving a tractor w/flatbed trailer or dry van intrastate and/or interstate routes, to deliver and unload various products to customers. Plaisted Companies success depends on safe, efficient, and conscientious drivers who care about public safety and excellent customer service. We have a great shop that keeps our trucks running well and we know how to keep you moving. We offer highly competitive pay. We run long haul freight mostly Monday – Friday with occasional weekends. You could be gone for up to 5 days.

Position Type: Full Time/Permanent

Wage: 25% of Gross Rev.

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL Class A License with DOT med card
  • Minimum 1-year CDL Class A driving experience and a clean driving record
  • Ability to safely operate tractor / trailer while hauling liquid and dry materials in all weather conditions
  • Ability to safely hook / unhook trailers, secure cargo and tarp loads as needed
  • Timely reporting of any accidents, damage (vehicle or property) or equipment issues
  • Drive within 48 states
  • Maintain customer and public satisfaction
  • Complete required paperwork, DOT logs, shipping papers, daily driver logs and other required documentation, either by hand or using provided electronic equipment
  • Maintain vehicle in optimal condition for public safety, vehicle longevity, and routine inspections
  • Practice proper loading, unloading and trip management of loads, properly following bills of lading
  • Deliver freight in good condition and on schedule
  • Plan routes; manage unexpected changes
  • Practice safe and defensive driving techniques
  • Pre and post check the vehicle to ensure safe transportation and report any malfunctions

Physical:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods. This position will be occasionally required to lie down, bend and stoop
  • Must have sufficient mobility to navigate through various customer locations. Must be able to lift to 75 pounds utilizing team lifting or mechanical assistance as needed or when reaching the current OSHA restrictions
  • Must be able to see and hear normal traffic signals, road equipment and hazards
  • Must be able to clearly see and distinguish colors and patterns

Mental:

  • Must have the ability to use and understand simple arithmetic

LABORER – GROUND SUPPORT & LIGHT MAINTENANCE

Position Details:

  • Perform operator maintenance on assigned items of equipment to include cleaning and manufacturer’s recommended lubrication
  • Perform complete inspections on all equipment being used making minor repairs and reporting any discrepancies found
  • Perform repairs to vehicles and equipment as assigned, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to order parts as needed and provide required documentation of parts and labor used
  • Assists in the movement of product as needed, properly storing in the designated storage areas and assisting in unloading, verifying quantity as needed
  • Assists in the loading of trucks in a timely and efficient manner in order to minimize the time required for loading customers and shipments
  • Cleans all equipment and vehicles daily as assigned to ensure that the equipment is clean and presents a professional appearance
  • Assists as directed in the conversion of products, operating equipment, cleanup of area and equipment as required
  • Maintains the assigned working area and assigned common areas, such as the control rooms and wash rooms, ensuring they are clean and properly maintained prior to the end of each day
  • Assist in organizing the storage of equipment, vehicles and material as directed in order to maintain easy access throughout the pit mining area
  • Assist in maintaining the pit and storage areas in compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations to include first aid, fall hazard and fire extinguishers

  • Able to pass a 5 Panel Drug Test (urinalysis)
  • Able to pass a back and extremity medical exam

Hours:

  • 6:00am to 5:00pm Mon-Fri

SAND & SOIL QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN

Position Details:

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control program to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards and specifications. 
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards of materials and finished products. 
  • Coordinate production procedures with production team to maximize product reliability and consistency. 
  • Performs quality control inspections across all stages of production and delivery. 
  • Perform product testing in accordance with company guidelines. 
  • Maintain calibration of quality control equipment. 
  • Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards. 
  • Identify areas for quality control improvement and recommend new methods to Operations Manager. 
  • Communicate quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Operations Manager and Sales Manager. 
  • Responsible for daily checks of material inventory in the pit and report low quantity levels to the Operations Manager and Dispatch Manager. 
  • Responsible for company weed control program. 
  • Responsible for product sampling and shipping to independent testing labs as directed by Operations Manager and Sales Manager. 

Requirements:

  • MSHA Certified 
  • Sand and Soil Sampling State Certified

Description:

This position manages the logistics services that we offer to our shipper and carrier customers. It is responsible for matching available shipments with carrier capacity, managing that process to completion, building relationships with customers, and growing our customer base. This is a critical position in building trust and value with our customers and managing our profitability. Our ability to develop carrier and shipper customers is greatly dependent on the performance of this position.

Position Details:

  • Managing Shipments, covering loads, working with carriers for good spot rates and booking shipments.
  • Watching the loads boards to cover the current freight.
  • Researching the carriers before booking the loads to make sure they are CSA compliant.
  • Maintain regular contact with existing clients to determine shipping needs, providing responsive customer service, and resolving client issues quickly and effectively.
  • Issue complete, accurate and timely load confirmations to the carrier(s) on each shipment.
  • Phone and e-mail customers to solicit available shipments and business opportunities.
  • Register customer logistics needs into our computer system with accurate, timely information.
  • Communicating with customers about any delays with pickup and delivery.
  • Provide back-up to fellow team members as needed.
  • Order entry.
  • Answering a large volume of calls and answering the phones promptly.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in a logistics role required
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
