Wash Bay Technician (Second Shift)

Position Details

  • Wash vehicles and trailers as assigned by the Wash Bay Supervisor/Transportation Manager
  • Perform waxing and polishing of assigned vehicles and trailers.
  • Inspect visible problems that may need repair and report any discrepancies.
  • Replace all missing or damaged lug nut covers and chrome center caps.
  • Make maximum utilization of solvents and cleaning fluids by using all serviceable fluids in the containers before properly disposing of the containers.
  • Assist Shop Mechanics as required.
  • Maintain the assigned working area, ensuring the area is clean and all tools and equipment have been properly cleaned and stored at the end of each shift (includes washing the wall and squeegeeing the floor area)
  • Assist in maintaining the shop and warehouse areas in compliance with OSHA regulations to include first aid, fall hazard, and fire extinguishers.
  • Continually seek methods of controlling and reducing costs
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with other service and administrative personnel.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the company, customers, and personnel information.
  • Work punctually in order to ensure that customer service may be maintained.
  • Make the best use of time during working hours, seeking guidance as necessary for the performance of duties.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and situation, wearing the company uniform when at work.

 

Requirements

Education

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: High School Diploma

Experience

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: One year’s experience in a maintenance environment.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Demonstrate the proven ability to work with work teams.
  • Must have mathematical aptitude, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and awareness of maintenance and repair practices

Physical

  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods as this position will occasionally require you to lie down, bend, and stoop.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to navigate through the warehouse.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and understand when to utilize team lifting and mechanical assistance.
  • Must be able to see and hear normal maintenance equipment.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish colors and patterns clearly.

Mental

  • Must have the ability to use and understand simple arithmetic and algebraic equations.
  • Must be able to communicate with a predominantly English-speaking customer base effectively.
  • Must be able to work in an enclosed environment with other people.

Environment

  • The shop is a partially environmentally controlled area with extremes of heat or cold.
  • Maintenance and repairs may require work outside the shop and will be subject to the extremes of the local environment, particularly heat and cold
